Our vital work is made possible by people like you, who learn how good it can feel to lend a helping hand. Red Cross "everyday heroes" come from all walks of life. They're all ages. Everyone has something special to offer, including you.
Volunteer opportunities vary and we're continually looking for people like you to help carry on our humanitarian work. The Lehigh Valley office is in special need of Spanish-speaking volunteers for programs and services. Check out our volunteer opportunities in the categories below:
Administration: Data entry, filing and sorting, reception and direction of Red Cross visitors, answering multiple phone lines, preparing Chapter mailings.
Communications and Marketing: Development and writing of human interest stories for media and Red Cross newsletter, uploading of Web content (videos, graphics, wording), working with the chapter's social media venues and generating marketing opportunities.
Emergency Services (includes Disaster Services, Armed Forces Emergency Services and Valley Wide Help): Disaster response, disaster and preparedness training instruction and presentations, driving vehicles to disaster scenes, data entry, administrative services, clerical support, information and referral support.
Preparedness and Training: Volunteers needed to provide instruction in topics related to first aid, CPR, water safety, education, and related topics. EMS, teaching or medical backgrounds or experience helpful. Some training required. Bilingual skills helpful but not necessary. Open to anyone over age 15.
Development & Community Affairs: Coordination and implementation of plans for fund-raising events, follow-up with donor organizations, individuals and volunteers, grant research and writing.
Facilities: Cleaning and maintenance of building and surrounding property, participate in construction/tenant relocation projects as needed.
The Red Cross offers both credit and non-credit internship opportunities for college students. Internship experiences can be tailored to meet the needs and experiences of the student.
The Red Cross also develops special projects on an as-needed basis to incorporate the needs of the Chapter with the skills and experiences of interested volunteers.
We'd love to hear from you. Call or send an e-mail to Bob Duld, chief operating officer,
