| March is Red Cross Month Letter to the Editor | ![]() |
Across the United States, March is recognized as American Red Cross Month by the President and by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It's a time to shine a light on the thousands of volunteers and employees who demonstrate every day the compassion and generosity that has made this agency one of our country's most respected, well-known and longest-serving humanitarian organizations.
Red Cross volunteers and employees are ordinary people who do extraordinary things. They might deliver CPR or first aid and automated external defibrillator training to keep hearts beating. They might provide a hotel room, clothing and other necessities to a devastated family displaced by a fire. Whether they are connecting service men and women with loved ones during emergencies or helping collect and distribute the blood that saves people in accidents, cancer patients, or babies, Red Cross volunteers and employees embody the generous community spirit of our nation.
The Red Cross is an organization people can rely on for help, comfort, assistance and compassion. When times are bad, you know that we'll be there to help.
If you have ever donated just one dollar or one hour to the Red Cross, you have helped change a life in some extraordinary way. By helping to support the American Red Cross, you changed a life, starting with your own. What could be more rewarding?
As chairman of the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley, I applaud our donors, volunteers, employees and partner agencies. It is their continued commitment and compassion that helps us to do extraordinary deeds every day.
