"Volunteers are the heart of the Red Cross" was the focus of the students' artwork. The contest, held in commemoration of March is Red Cross Month, drew entries from students in grades 1 - 6 across Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties.
"It is inspiring to see how well the students expressed their understanding of the work of the Red Cross. Hopefully we will see a new generation of Red Cross volunteers working in their communities," said John Hughes, executive director of the Greater Lehigh Valley Red Cross.
"March is Red Cross Month" is a time to honor and thank the members of the Red Cross family and remind people that the Red Cross is where Americans can make a difference.
