The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley received the 2007 Morning Call Silver Tray Award in recognition of its successful employee United Way campaign at a luncheon hosted yesterday by the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley.

The Morning Call has presented The Silver Tray Award for more than 20 years to an employee campaign coordinator or team that demonstrates exceptional performance in promoting the work of the United Way and its community investments and initiatives.

“We are truly honored to receive this award and are proud to be a United Way partner agency,” John R. Hughes, executive director, commented. “Red Cross employees have always held creative and successful in-house fund-raising campaigns. Each year our financial contributions climb.”

The award was presented at the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley’s eighth annual Employee Campaign Coordinator luncheon hosted by Carrabba’s Italian Grill in Allentown.

The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley serves more than 690,000 residents of Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties. Last year the Red Cross provided health and safety education training; Lifeline, a personal response service for seniors; and emergency relief to more than 23,000 Greater Lehigh Valley residents.
