| Lifeguarding Instructor, Water Safety Instructor Classes Available | ![]() |
A Lifeguarding Instructor class will be held April 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and April 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29 and May 1, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., each day, at the Rodale Aquatic Center in Allentown. Participants must attend all sessions. This course prepares instructor candidates to teach basic-level courses from the Lifeguarding program including Lifeguarding (with First Aid), Lifeguard Management, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Administering Emergency Oxygen, Bloodborne Pathogens Training: Preventing Disease Transmission, and Basic Water Rescue courses. Candidates will also become familiar with GuardStart: Lifeguarding Tomorrow and the Water Safety Presentations.
In order to participate in this course, candidates must be at least 17 years of age on or before the last scheduled day of the instructor course, and must also successfully complete a written and skills pre-test based on information from basic-level Lifeguarding and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Fee is $200.
A Water Safety Instructor class will be held on May 10, 17, 18, 31 and June 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., each day, at the Bethlehem Township Community Center. This course trains instructor candidates to teach the Basic Water Rescue course, the six levels of the Learn to Swim Program, Parent and Child Aquatics, and Community Water Safety presentations. Candidates will learn how to plan and conduct lessons and evaluate progress of students.
This course includes Fundamentals of Instructor Training. Candidates must be at least 16 years of age by the last day of class and successfully complete a water and swimming skills pre-test. Fee is $140.
