American Red Cross Offers CPR/AED Classes for Professional Rescuers

BETHLEHEM, Feb. 13, 2008 - The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley will hold the following classes for professional rescuers in February and March:

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer classes will be held Feb. 27, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; March 5 & 7, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (each evening); March 15, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and March 28, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The course is for participants who "have a duty to respond" in an emergency and need to use more advanced techniques. Participants will learn basic CPR skills, including two-rescuer CPR, and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest. The course includes a book and a pocket face mask. Fee is $75.

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Review classes will be held March 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and March 17 & 19, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (each evening). This course is for individuals who wish to be recertified in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and includes a book and a mask. Candidates must bring proof of certification received within the past 24 months to class (call Chapter for more information). Fee is $70.

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Challenge classes will be held Feb. 25, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and March 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This session is for individuals who wish to be recertified in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. This is a knowledge and skills testing session only, not for review or teaching. Participants must be prepared to demonstrate their knowledge and ability in all of the skills covered in the CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer course. A pocket face mask is included in the registration fee. Fee is $60.
