American Red Cross Announces Blood Drives for August

The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley will hold blood drives on the following days this month:

Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 1 - 6 p.m., at Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall, West 10th Street, Jim Thorpe. Canteen sponsor: Jim Thorpe Market;

Friday, Aug. 22, from 1 - 6 p.m., at the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company, 2440 Fairyland Road, Lehighton. Canteen sponsor: Mallard Markets; and

Thursday, Aug. 28, from 1 - 6 p.m., at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton. Canteen sponsor: The Camouflage Kitchen at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club.

As a special thank you for taking the time to donate blood and helping to save lives, all presenting donors will automatically be entered to win weekly drawings for a $25 VISA Gift Card. In addition, all presenting donors at the Aug. 28 blood drive will receive free collectible T-shirts.

Anyone who is at least 17 years old, who weighs at least 110 pounds, and is healthy may give blood or platelets. With the submission of a signed parental consent form, 16-year-olds who weigh at least 110 pounds and are in good health also can donate blood. Parental consent forms are available from nurse supervisors at Red Cross drives.
