Family and friends of those affected by today’s tornadoes in central Florida can check the American Red Cross “Safe and Well Web site” for information, https://disastersafe.redcross.org.

The Safe and Well Web site enables people within a disaster area to let their families and friends outside of the affected region know that they are “safe and well.” Loved ones who are concerned about family members in an affected area can search the Web site to view these messages.

The Greater Lehigh Valley Red Cross chapter received 16 inquires today from family and friends expressing concern about loved ones possibly affected by the tornadoes. All were referred to the site for assistance.

The Web site is available around-the-clock, and the Red Cross encourages affected residents to register. Wherever there is Internet access, people can register on or search the Web site. The site can also be reached via www.redcross.org by clicking the “Safe and Well Web site” link.

The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley serves more than 660,000 residents of Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties. Last year the Red Cross provided health and safety education training; Lifeline, a personal response service for seniors; and emergency relief to more than 23,000 Greater Lehigh Valley residents.
