Health and Safety Classes Slated for May
and June in Carbon County

The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley will hold the following Health and Safety classes at its Carbon Office in Lehighton in May and June:

Adult CPR with First Aid – June 8 and 9, from 6 p.m.-10 p.m.; 6 p.m.-9 p.m. (must attend both evenings). Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, recognize, and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. The course covers first aid and adult CPR and training in the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED). Fee: $55

CPR for the Professional Rescuer– May 17 and 18, from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. (must attend both evenings); and June 18, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This course is designed for people who have a job-related duty to respond in an emergency, including nurses, law enforcement and EMS personnel, fire fighters, business and industry response teams, lifeguards, flight attendants, and others who must take action in emergency situations. Skills include rescue breathing, conscious/unconscious choking, as well as one- and two-person CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). This course does not include first aid training. (This course is equivalent to the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course). Fee: $70

Classes will be held at the Red Cross office located at 129 N. First Street, Lehighton. Textbooks are included in the price of the courses and will be distributed on the day of the class.

Registration is payable by check to “American Red Cross” or credit card (MasterCard, VISA or American Express).
