Get Trained ... Sign Up Now for December Health and Safety Classes at Lehighton Office

The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley will hold the following Health and Safety classes at its Carbon Office in Lehighton in December. For a complete list of Red Cross classes for the fall, pick up a schedule at the Lehighton office or visit www.redcrosslv.org.

Adult CPR – Dec. 17, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. – For individuals who need adult CPR training only, this hands-on skills training prepares participants to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults. This course also includes training in the use of Automated External Defibrillators. This course applies to victims over 8 years of age. Fee: $40.

Babysitter’s Training – Dec. 29, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. – What you need to know and what every parent wants in a responsible babysitter. This course will provide individuals, ages 11-15 with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of a parent. Students will develop skills in five main areas: leadership, safety and safe play, basic care, first aid, and professionalism. This course does not include training in CPR. Students must be 11 years old by the last day of the class. Fee: $40.

CPR for the Professional Rescuer Review – Dec. 12 and 13, from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. You must attend both evenings. This class is for individuals who wish to be recertified in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Candidates must bring proof of current certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer Manual and pocket face mask to class. Fee: $35.

First Aid Basics – Dec. 7, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Participants will become familiar with how to recognize and care for victims of illness and sudden injuries. This class does not include CPR/AED. Fee: $36

Classes will be held at the Red Cross office located at 129 N. First Street, Lehighton. Textbooks are included in the price of the courses and will be distributed on the day of the class.

First Street, Lehighton, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; or at the Red Cross office at 2200 Avenue A, Bethlehem, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Registration is payable by check to “American Red Cross” or credit card (MasterCard, VISA or American Express).
