The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley urges local residents to make a date to donate blood this May.
“If all blood donors gave at least twice a year, it would greatly strengthen the nation’s blood supply,” said Carl Kist, branch manager of the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley in Carbon County. “Every two seconds someone in America needs blood. Red Cross makes it easy for people to donate by hosting blood collections year-round throughout Carbon County. What could be more rewarding than helping to save the life of a newborn or adult through the simple process of donating blood? Please give blood, if you can, at one of these visits.”
Blood drives are scheduled for the following locations:
Friday, May 6, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony; and
Monday, May 23, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Nesquehoning Recreational Center, W. Railroad Street, Nesquehoning.
Anyone who is at least 17 years old, who weighs at least 110 pounds, and is in good health can give blood. For more information, call the Red Cross at 1-800-GIVE LIFE.
