With six of eight blood types below the one-day supply level, the American Red Cross urges Carbon County residents to get out and donate blood. “It’s critical that people come out to donate,” said Red Cross officials. “O-Negative, A-Positive, A-Negative and B-Negative blood types are at an alarming low level. We can’t stress enough the importance of having an adequate blood supply. One out of every 10 people entering a hospital needs blood. Just one pint of donated blood can help save the lives of several people.”

The Red Cross bloodmobile will visit the following location in Carbon County:

Friday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Split Rock Resort (Galleria Building), Lake Drive, Lake Harmony.

Anyone who is at least 17 years old, who weighs at least 105 pounds, and is in good health may give blood. For more information, contact the Carbon County office of the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley at (610) 377-2100 or call 1-800-GIVE LIFE.
