Red Cross disaster relief assistance to meet the basic needs of individuals and families affected by area flooding is available at St. Anthony’s Youth Center, 901 Washington Street in Easton. At 8:35 p.m., the Lower Mt. Bethel police chief released residents at the township shelter.
The Red Cross encourages residents who may need shelter to go to St. Anthony’s Youth Center.
Shelters provide evacuated residents with a safe place to stay, food to eat, access to emotional counseling, and much more. A total of five Red Cross shelters were opened this weekend to meet the needs of an estimated 100 people.
Over a two-day period, about 80 people called the Red Cross seeking various types of assistance and information. Many calls were from individuals who lacked insurance and didn’t know where to turn. Other calls were from area residents and groups offering to help with clothing drives, food and other items for those affected by the flooding.
