American Red Cross disaster relief assistance to meet the basic needs of the individuals and families affected by area flooding is available by calling the Red Cross at (610) 865-4400.
Types of assistance available from Red Cross and the locations where services are available are listed below:
Shelter and meals
• The Red Cross provides sheltering as short-term emergency housing to persons evacuated or displaced by a disaster until victims can return to their homes or locate alternate housing. Please note that shelters are not equipped to handle family pets. Please contact your local humane society or make some alternate arrangements with those outside of the evacuation area.
• Regular meals will be provided in shelters.
Shelter locations are:
• St. Anthony’s Youth Center, 901 Washington Street, Easton; and
• Lower Mt. Bethel Township Building, 6984 Route 611, Lower Mt. Bethel.
Individual Assistance
Red Cross volunteers and employees will meet one-on-one with individuals and families to determine their immediate emergency needs, for example: groceries, clothing, shoes, medication replacement, medical supplies or eyeglass replacement.
In addition, Disaster Mental Health Services workers, licensed mental health professionals trained to recognize the emotional impact of a disaster, are available to offer information about how to cope with post-disaster emotional issues.
Red Cross workers will provide information about and referrals to other available community or government resources. Individuals or families requesting assistance will be required to provide identification proving that they resided in the disaster-affected area at the time of the disasters.
For more information, please call the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley at (610) 865-4400.
