Upcoming Preparedness & Training Classes to Be Held at Carbon Office

The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley will hold the following Health and Safety classes at its Carbon Office in Lehighton in January and February:

Adult CPR – 5-hour class instruction; class to be held Feb. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This course is designed for individuals who need adult CPR training only. The course uses hands-on skills training to prepare participants to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults (victims over 8 years of age). Included in the course is training in the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Fee: $35

Adult CPR with First Aid – 7-hour class instruction; classes to be held Feb. 9, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Feb. 10, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (must attend both evenings). The class covers first aid and adult CPR and training in the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). This course applies to victims over 8 years of age. Fee: $50

CPR for the Professional Rescuer – 8-hour class instruction; classes to be held Jan. 31 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Feb. 18 and 19, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (must attend both evenings). This course is designed for people who have a job-related duty to respond in an emergency, including nurses, law enforcement and EMS personnel, fire fighters, business and industry response teams, lifeguards, flight attendants, and others who must take action in emergency situations. Skills include rescue breathing, conscious/unconscious choking, as well as one- and two-person CPR for adults, children and infants and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). This course does not include first aid training. (This course is equivalent to the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course). Fee: $65

Classes will be held at the Red Cross office located at 129 N. First Street, Lehighton. Textbooks and class materials are included in the price of the courses and will be distributed on the day of the class.

First Street, Lehighton, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or at the Main Office at 2200 Avenue A, Bethlehem, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Registration is payable by check to “American Red Cross” or credit card (MasterCard, VISA or American Express).
