Joe Stockunas Named New Board Chairman; Officers, Additional Board Members Elected

Joseph Stockunas, general manager-electronic equipment for Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., was elected to a one-year term as chairman of the board for the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley, effective Oct. 1. Stockunas succeeds Richard Perrotti who served as chairman from 2001-2003.

Stockunas joined the local Red Cross board in 1998 and served most recently in the positions of board vice chair and chairman of the emergency services committee.

"Joe is an outstanding member of the Red Cross board," said Executive Director John Hughes. "Our organization and the community at large are fortunate to have someone like Joe in the top volunteer leadership position at Red Cross."

I have the highest respect for the tireless work they do to fulfill the Red Cross mission to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies,” Stockunas commented. “It is an honor to lead such an outstanding humanitarian organization.”

Officers nominated to serve with Stockunas for 2003-2004 are: Bob McGovern, vice chair; Bob Gedney, secretary; and Thomas Brown, treasurer.

The following individuals were nominated to the board to serve a three-year term beginning Oct. 1, 2003: Thomas Brown, vice president finance and chief financial officer at The Morning Call; Dona Fisher, vice president and chief financial officer at Binney & Smith, Inc.; George Hlavac, attorney at law at Tallman Hudders & Sorrentino; and Dawn Washington, director of Ways to Work Family Loan Program.

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
