The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley will hold the following Health and Safety classes at its Carbon Office in September and October:
CPR for the Professional Rescuer – 8-hour class instruction; classes to be held Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Oct. 15 and 16, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (must attend both evenings). This course is designed for people who have a job-related duty to respond in an emergency, including nurses, law enforcement and EMS personnel, fire fighters, business and industry response teams, lifeguards, flight attendants, and others who must take action in emergency situations. Skills include rescue breathing, conscious/unconscious choking, as well as one- and two-person CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). This course does not include first aid training. (This course is equivalent to the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course.) Fee: $65
Adult CPR With First Aid – 7-hour class instruction; classes to be held Sept. 16, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sept. 17, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (must attend both evenings); and Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The class covers first aid and adult CPR and training in the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). This course applies to victims at least 8 years of age. Fee: $50
Classes will be held at the Red Cross office located at 129 N. First Street, Lehighton. Textbooks are included in the price of the courses and will be distributed on the day of the class.
