A field of 100 golfers drove, chipped and putted their way through hot, humid weather in support of the 20th Annual American Red Cross Tune-Up Golf Classic held yesterday (8/5) at Brookside Country Club. The tournament was rescheduled from May 13 due to inclement weather.
Legg Mason Funds of Baltimore, Md., and local Legg Mason offices were this year's major tournament sponsors with a total contribution of $5,000.
"Since 1998, nearly $200,000 was raised to support the programs and services of the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley," said Todd Harvey, tournament chairman. "Fund-raising events like this provide money for disaster relief assistance such as shelter, clothing, shoes and meals for people affected by fire or other disaster at their home. It also supports a myriad of programs and services to keep greater Lehigh Valley families safe and healthy.
"We're deeply grateful for the support of the corporations and individuals who support this tournament. People come back year after year to play. It's a fun occasion for a very beneficial cause."
