To honor local Red Cross chapters that provide lifesaving services and education in local communities year-round, Ty has introduced a new "America" bear to support local Red Cross disaster relief efforts. One hundred percent of Ty's profits from the original sale of "America" will be donated to local chapters where the buyers live. Sales will be tracked by ZIP code.
Available exclusively online, the new "America" Beanie Baby can be purchased by visiting www.ty.com. The bear is white with one blue ear decorated with white stars and the other ear red-and-white striped. A small American flag is embroidered on the left chest. The cost is $5 per bear, plus shipping. Supplies are limited.
This second "America" bear immediately follows the top-selling blue "America" bear, which to date has generated more than $1.1 million for the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
"All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, therefore we depend on the generous contributions of individuals and companies to help us with our relief efforts," said John R. Hughes, executive director of the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley. "We are truly grateful for all those who give selflessly of their time, money and blood so that we may continue to serve our community."
"Our first 'America' bear was such a success with customers, I knew they would want a second one," said Ty Warner, president of Ty. "The new 'America' bear is our way of saying thank you to Red Cross chapters that help people in communities every day. I hope both collectors and the public will join us in saying thank you for the great work of the Red Cross. "
The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley assisted 918 individuals affected by disaster since July 2001, by meeting their immediate needs for food, clothing, shelter, grief counseling and much more.
The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley serves more than 660,000 residents in Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties. Last year the Red Cross provided health and safety education training and emergency relief services to more than 15,700 Lehigh Valley residents.
