The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley elected John J. Yanek, director-AMR at PPL Electric Utilities in Allentown, to a three-year term as a member of the chapter's board of directors.
"We are extremely delighted to have John join the Red Cross family," said Richard Perrotti, chairman of the board. "John brings a unique set of skills and talents to the table that will greatly benefit the Red Cross and our community. PPL has been a great supporter of the Red Cross and the communities it serves."
Yanek joins 26 other local community leaders that make up the Red Cross board.
Yanek, of Schnecksville, joined PPL in 1978 as an engineer in the test department. He served as construction superintendent and manager of mobile work force operations prior to being named to his current position.
The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley serves more than 660,000 residents in Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties. Last year the Red Cross provided health and safety education training and emergency relief services to more than 15,500 Greater Lehigh Valley residents.
