Global financial services company Legg Mason has again pledged $8,000 in sponsorship of the Red Cross 19th Annual Tune-Up Classic Golf Tournament. This marks the second year that Legg Mason has contributed the largest corporate donation for a special fund-raising event in the 84-year history of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross.

"It's very rewarding for me to personally extend Legg Mason's support to the Red Cross," said Rich Perrotti, vice president and branch manager at Legg Mason in Allentown. "Legg Mason is delighted to be a major sponsor of the golf tournament. It's always a fun event, but most important, it's for a great cause. Our community benefits greatly from events such as this."

"The Red Cross and its local chapters rely solely on financial contributions from the community both from individuals and corporations," said John Hughes, executive director of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross. "As a way of creating greater awareness of what Red Cross does and who we serve, we also plan several different types of special events. One of our most long-standing events in the golf tournament. We're extremely pleased that Legg Mason has once again pledged so generously to this particular event."

"A limited number of individual golf registrations and corporate sponsorship opportunities are still available for the tournament that will be held May 14 at the Brookside Country Club in Macungie," said Todd Harvey, tournament chairman and financial advisor at Legg Mason. "New this year is an exclusive auction/raffle including autographed books, photos and other objects by golf-greats Ray Floyd, Arnold Palmer, Lee Travino, Tom Watson, Isao Aoki, Tommy Aaron, Bob Charles, Annika Sorenstam, Karrie Webb and Patty Sheehan.

Cost per individual golfer is $175 and includes use of the driving range, lunch, 18 holes of golf with cart (scramble format) and dinner at the club. Snacks and beverages will be provided on the course.

The tournament begins with lunch at 11 a.m., followed by a noon shotgun start. The driving range will open at 10 a.m. to tournament golfers only. A cash bar will be available at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 5:30 p.m.

Valuable prizes, ranging from a three-night Jamaica trip to jewelry gift certificates to golf equipment packages and area greens fees certificates, will be awarded to teams and individuals in various categories, including longest drive, first low gross, first low net and closest to the pin. Hole-in-one prizes include a new car from Vinart Dealerships.

Each year, supporting dollars from the event help the Red Cross provide programs and services that help save lives in the community. Those programs and services include such as lodging, meals or clothing for families affected by a residential fire or other disaster to health and safety services and programs such as HIV education, water safety and CPR.
