This year's American Red Cross Annual Tune-Up Golf Classic netted more than $30,000 in support of Red Cross programs and services for Lehigh Valley residents.
The tournament, held May 14 at Brookside Country Club, drew a field of 121 golfers, including Tal Daley, vice president and director of Legg Mason Funds in Baltimore. Legg Mason was this year's major tournament sponsor for the second year with a contribution of $8,000.
Daley and Richard Perrotti, vice president and branch manager at Legg Mason in Allentown, presented a display check to American Red Cross Chairwoman Susanne Kauffman and Red Cross Executive Director John Hughes prior to the golf dinner. This is the largest corporate donation for a special fund-raising event in the 84-year history of the local Red Cross.
"This is the 19th year for the golf tournament and we're deeply grateful for the support of the corporations and individuals who support this event," said Todd Harvey, tournament chairman. "People come back year after year to play. It's a fun event for a very beneficial cause. We're particularly looking forward to celebrating the 20th anniversary of this tournament which will be held May 13, 2002 at Brookside."
