Need a quick and convenient way to find the information you need to contact area social and human service organizations? American Red Cross has the answer: the Valley Wide Help Directory.
The directory lists street addresses, Web site information, E-mail addresses and contact names of more than 600 nonprofit agencies and organizations in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding area.
The directory is published by American Red Cross Valley Wide Help, a 24-hour information and referral service funded by the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley. The 200-page, spiral-bound book is an excellent resource for any business, organization or individual.
Cost is $20 per directory plus $5 shipping and handling, if mailed. Directories can be ordered by calling Red Cross Valley Wide Help at (610) 865-4400, ext. 221, by E-mail at lewisca@usa.redcross.org or on the Web at www.redcrosslv.org.
Directories may be purchased and picked up at the Red Cross office, 2200 Avenue A in Bethlehem, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Cash, check or credit card (American Express, MasterCard or Visa) is accepted. Please make checks payable to American Red Cross, Lehigh Valley Chapter (include the words Valley Wide Help Directory on the memo line) and mail to: 2200 Avenue A, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
American Red Cross Valley Wide Help is the only service of its kind in the Lehigh Valley offering direct provision of information about social and human services. The program has been in existence for more than 25 years.
American Red Cross information specialists answer calls to Valley Wide Help weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. After 6 p.m. and on weekends, calls are answered through a voice mail system that offers a menu of referrals to address callers' needs in an emergency situation. For non-emergencies, the voice mail system offers callers the option of leaving a message and requesting a return call.
Accessibility of information and referral services throughout the Lehigh Valley is ensured through the availability of six telephone numbers allowing toll-free access, bilingual services to Spanish-speaking callers and a text telephone system for the hearing impaired.
The Lehigh Valley Chapter Red Cross serves more than 620,000 residents in Lehigh and Northampton counties. Last year the Red Cross provided health and safety education training and emergency relief services to more than 15,500 Lehigh Valley residents.
