American Red Cross Elects Board Members; Names New Officers

The Lehigh Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross elected six new board members and named this year's officers at its annual meeting June 6 held at the Holiday Inn Gateway Conference Center in Bethlehem.

Elected to the board for a three-year term are: Clayton Bond, Easton branch manager- Nazareth National Bank; Joseph Seaver, safety director-Kovatch Mobile Equipment in Nesquehoning; and S. K. Hammi Kappor, president of IKN, Inc., in Allentown.

Elected for a two-year term are: Terry Capuano, senior vice president-clinical services at Lehigh Valley Hospital & Health Network; and James Harper, consultant for institutional advancement at Northampton Community College.

Ben Boylston, Bethlehem Steel retiree, was elected to a one-year term.

"We are extremely delighted to have these outstanding individuals join our board," said Susanne Kauffman, chairman of the Lehigh Valley Chapter Red Cross. "Each brings a unique set of skills and talents to the table that will greatly benefit the Red Cross and our community."

Board members re-elected for a one-year term: Robert Grim of Capital Blue Cross, and Richard Perrotti of Legg Mason.

Board members re-elected to a second three-year term: Jim Dunleavy, VIA of the Lehigh Valley, Inc.; Deborah Evans, Moravian College; Helle Jepsen, PECOAdelphia Communications; Dennis Michael, Lafayette Ambassador Bank; Jose Perna, Saucon Valley Mortgage Company; and Joseph Stockunas, Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.

Officers elected for 2001-2002 are: Richard Perrotti (Legg Mason), chairman; Joseph Stockunas, vice chairman; Bob Gedney (Toyota Industrial Lift Trucks), secretary; and Barbara Bigelow (Easton Hospital), treasurer.

Other Red Cross board members include: Don Bauman, Bethlehem Steel Corp; Jon Conrad, Moravian College; Joe Fritz, Binney & Smith, Inc.; Julio Guridy, Summit Bank; Jane Leary, Mack Trucks, Inc; Dr. Vincent Mattera Jr., Agere Systems; Ana Sainz de la Pena, Allentown School District; Tyrone Reed, Alvin H. Butz, Inc.; Judith Savchak, First Union National Bank; and Patti Gates Smith.

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

The Lehigh Valley Red Cross serves more than 620,000 residents in Lehigh and Northampton counties. Last year the Red Cross provided health and safety education training and emergency relief services to nearly 15,500 Lehigh Valley residents.
