Be a Red Cross Hero

We all have our favorite heroes. But did you know you could be a hero, too? You can... by becoming a Hero for the American Red Cross campaign being held March 1 - 31, 2010. Be a Hero

Heroes pledge to raise $1,000 each for the Red Cross during this grassroots fundraising and awareness campaign. If you're up for this challenge, you can raise the money personally, as an organization, or by hosting a fundraising event. All money raised here stays here.
People of all ages can serve as Heroes.

Heroes help to spread the word about the services the Greater Lehigh Valley Red Cross provides, and they also raise the money that supports local needs for disaster relief, preparedness and training and other critical services.

What's in it for me? (Glad you asked!)
  • The best feeling in the world knowing that you helped change someone's life, including your own
  • Your picture or company/organization's logo in the newspaper (you must sign up by Feb. 12 for this perk)
  • An invitation to a yummy kick-off breakfast and scrumptious celebratory lunch!
  • A chance to make a big, lasting difference in our community.
  • Bragging rights!

Yes, I want to be a Hero...

70,000 reasons you should become a HERO for the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley

In fiscal year ending June 30, 2009, the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley provided disaster relief assistance, lifesaving training, military assistance and information and referral to more than 70,000 people in Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties.

Here's how:

526 men, women and children received disaster assistance such as lodging, food, clothing and other emergency assistance following a house fire or other emergency.

21,000 children and adults were trained in first aid, CPR, AED, life guarding, babysitting and other lifesaving skills.

679 emergency communications were provided to military personnel and their families.

45,135 people were assisted by phone or accessed the Valley Wide Help Web site for information.

Over 1,000 units of blood were collected in Carbon County.

Nearly 2,000 older adults and physically-challenged people were able to live independently and safely at home here in our community with Lifeline.
