HIV/AIDS Starter Facts
This course provides the participant with the knowledge base on HIV/AIDS and skills in separating facts from misinformation and opinions. Starter Facts helps participants to distinguish among HIV, HIV infection and AIDS, understand how HIV infection progresses and how it is spread.
Prerequisites: Participants must be a minimum of 17 years of age.

HIV/AIDS Facts Practice
This course prepares participants to share accurate, unbiased, up-to-date information about HIV/AIDS. It also instructs students to refer community members to appropriate resources. This course is now an optional course. It is no longer a requirement for Basic HIV/AIDS Education & Prevention Instructor course.
Prerequisites: Participants must be a minimum of 17 years of age and possess HIV/AIDS Starter Facts certificate issued within the last 12 months.

HIV/AIDS Education & Prevention Instructor
This course prepares instructor candidates to present information at community sessions to help the public learn skills to prevent HIV infection.
Candidates will learn to effectively facilitate skill-building activities that involve task groups, role-play, brainstorm, teachbacks, demonstration and practice.
Prerequisites: All participants must hold a current Fundamentals of Instructor Training, or current instructor certificate from another ARC program, and must hold a current certification for HIV/AIDS Starter Facts. Facts Practice is now an optional course. It is no longer a prerequisite for this course.

Bloodborne Pathogens Training: Preventing Disease Transmission
This class teaches participants safe workplace practices, how to report and follow up on employee exposures to infectious materials, and how to reduce the number of employees who contract bloodborne infections, such as Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), at the work site. The instructor reviews procedures to follow if an exposure incident occurs and also explains signs and labels required by OSHA. This course meets OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standards.
