Standard First Aid
This course teaches how to recognize and care for victims of injury or sudden illness plus how to treat cuts, bruises, bone and muscle injuries, shock, bleeding and other first aid emergencies. This class does not include training in CPR or use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED).

Standard First Aid with CPR/AED - Adult
This course teaches rescue breathing, choking rescue and adult one-rescuer CPR. You will also learn how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest, plus how to treat cuts, bruises, bone and muscle injuries, shock, bleeding and other first aid emergencies.

Standard First Aid with CPR/AED - Adult and Child plus Infant CPR
Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, recognize, and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. This course includes training in the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for adults and children and prepares individuals to provide care for breathing emergencies and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest until advanced medical personnel arrive. Also included is instruction on controlling external bleeding, muscle, bone and joint injuries, including injuries to head, neck and back.

Lay Responder First Aid and CPR/AED Instructor
Upon completion of the Lay Responder First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor course, the participant will be prepared to teach the following courses:

  • First Aid/CPR/AED for the Workplace
  • First Aid/CPR/AED for Schools and the Community
  • Blended Learning First Aid/CPR/AED
  • First Aid - Responding to Emergencies
  • Sport Safety Training
This course includes Fundamentals of Instructor Training

Prerequisites:

  • Candidates must successfully complete written and skills pre-test covering Adult & Child CPR/AED, Infant CPR, & First Aid. It is strongly recommended that participants receive this training less than 12 months prior to the course.
  • Minimum age is 16 by the last day of the class.
  • All candidates must complete an instructor candidate application and interview before admission into the instructor course. Call the chapter for details.
