Did you know that March is Red Cross Month?
The tradition dates back to 1943 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt,
the honorary chairman of the Red Cross, declared the whole month of March “Red Cross Month”
to promote Red Cross services to the American public and for fund raising.
Every year since, each American president has issued a similar proclamation,
stating the contributions of the American Red Cross to the United States.
March is Red Cross Month Community Event - March 6
Thank you to the many visitors who stopped by the Red Cross Village on Saturday, March 6, at the Lehigh Valley Mall. Young and old took part in blood pressure screenings, learned how to properly wash their hands to avoid germs, penned a note to our armed forces personnel, and enjoyed the many fun and educational Red Cross activities.
Special thanks to the marketing staff at the Lehigh Valley Mall for opening their doors to us and promoting the Red Cross throughout the month ... to Action Party Rentals for donation of pipe and draping to create "our village." To Loony Tunes Disc Jockey Services who pumped up the music for a great time. To area college nursing students and staff who volunteered their time to take blood pressure readings.
Congratulations to Yvette Barber! She was the "village passport" winner for the $100 gift card drawing for the Lehigh Valley Mall.
